Latest And Greatest Kids Gear

Twice a year we make our way to Salt Lake City to search out the latest and greatest kids gear at the Outdoor Retailer. Here’s part I of the list of gear that got our juices flowing here at Nature For Kids.

Piggyback Rider- This backpack is for those times when you need to carry your child off and on. It’s designed for kids 2 1/2 years and older. The Piggyback Rider is great for when they’ve outgrown their child carrier but still need a little help along the trail.

Sunglasses Made For Kids – These sunglasses made by Real Kids Shades are designed especially for little ones in mind. Babies and toddlers get their own style with a soft, buoyant and adjustable neoprene band rather than stiff wrap around frames. And older kids can still look stylin’ with shatterproof lenses and foam-backed frames in case of collisions on those many bike and skateboard rides.

Sun Protective Hats and Clothing - If you’re sick of lathering the kids up with sunscreen every two hours than this is your ticket. Sunday Afternoons has a great line of kids’ sun protective hats and clothing. They carry a swimming onesie and shirt that are UPF 50+. And a broad range of styles on hats that are also UPF 50+. One nice feature is the newly designed break-away Smart Strap for neck safety.

Pedometer With Rewards - Geo Palz has come up with an innovative way to get your kids active. They make kid friendly pedometers to help you keep track of your child’s activity level online. Every step taken earns points. Your child trades in points for prizes from the internet.

Childcarrier – Osprey is expanding their definition of gear to include child carriers! I’m especially excited about this because I’ve been a fan of Osprey packs for a while now. “The Poco Series channels everything the brand knows about packs into a line of child carriers that are comfortable, safe, supportive, light, well ventilated and supremely easy to adjust for fit.”

Watch for part II of the “Latest And Greatest Kids Gear” later this week.

  1. I have a piggyback rider and it is so wonderful. I have used it with an Ergo on the front with my littlest and big brother “riding the bar” on the back. He can get up and down easily as his toddler hiking skills are just developing!

  2. Thank you for taking the time and sharing this information with us. It was really very useful and informative while being straight forward and to the point.

  3. Kids have a dynamic way to keep in touch with the world. They can talk to fellow kids from all over the globe in an easy and dynamic way. This is through kids chat. In this day and age, where we have a lot of technological advancement, anything is possible when it comes to communication. This is the greatest tool that we have. Kids are able to have fun and share ideas in the process. The greatest teacher we have in life is other people and, with these vital resources, we will be in a position to learn more. Who better to teach than kids. Kids chat is meant to be fun but, the cultural interaction provides a very good platform to share experiences. Many parents are very skeptical when it comes to the issue of kids chat. This is because they have seen some of the bad things that their kids can be exposed to. Taking caution is very wise but, dismissing the whole chat system is unfair. When kids have chats that are controlled, they will be in a position to gain from all the good things the chats have to offer.
