Swimming, it's a classic passtime. Generations upon generations have enjoyed. Why, then, am I terrified of my little ones near water? Don't get me wrong, my kids have swimmed, and the first time my daughter fell in to the pool I (relatively) calmly jumped in and pulled her out. I want my kids to play in streams, and romp in the lakes, rivers, and oceans while we are outdoors. But there is always something that pulls at my insides screaming for me to rush in there, pull them back and tell them to never go near the water again. Does anyone else have these impulses? Just so you know, I am not scared of water in general, I was a Life Guard as a young adult, and I swim like a fish (as do most people in my family), and I have never even known of someone who has drown. What do you do to calm those jitters when your kids are in the water?
