I’ve been blogging here at Nature For Kids for 6 years now. My reasons for creating the blog were three fold: to inspire parents to immerse their kids in the outdoors, to have something that kept me on my toes and mindful of our lifestyle, and lastly to keep a record of our families outdoor adventures. The record keeping has been the most enjoyable aspect of my efforts. When we sit down and look back at our old posts and pictures we’re all smiles.
A keepsake journal of a families outdoor experiences is something that I believe to be essential, a wonderful addition to photo albums and baby books. The book “We Love Nature” was released this month and can be used as an activity guide, a nature journal, a sketch pad and an overall keepsake.
It’s a beautiful book with charming illustrations. I’d recommend families to carry it in their backpacks and fill it with dog ears. You can work your way through 52 outdoor activities, like experimenting with starting veggie and flower seeds, listening to nighttime sounds and comparing them to daytime sounds, or cooking s’mores over an open campfire. You can use the extra space provided to write down your experience, ideas or inspired stories and fill it with sketches of animals, clouds or seeds you come across.
To celebrate the release of the book this month there’s a giveaway! Win a free pair of Keen shoes and a copy of “We Love Nature”! Follow this link to enter!
